ASI wins major new contract in co'traitance with Héli-Union, a subsidiary of the Sabena technics Group
ASI continues its growth with the signing of a major contract worth several tens of millions of euros in co-contracting with Héli-Union, a subsidiary of the Sabena technics Group, for the renovation of the French Air Force's fleet of Fennec helicopters for territorial surveillance missions.
After several months of study and work by our teams, ASI Group and Héli-Union, a subsidiary of the Sabena technics Group, have won a co-contracting tender.
The subject of the tender was the renovation of the French Air Force's fleet of Fennec helicopters, with the integration of an optronic camera and a datalink system for transmitting data such as video and cartography. The installation of this communication system is not a new task for ASI Aviation, having already installed a similar system on one of its own aircraft.
ASI, which specializes in mission systems integration, will provide the design, civil certification, manufacture and supply of installation kits, and will assist Héli-Union with military certification procedures.
Héli-Union, a subsidiary of the Sabena Technics Group, will integrate the systems on the Fennec helicopters of the French Air Force.
Part of ASI's business is linked to the defense sector, through various current and future contracts, as recognized by its recent integration into the Cercle de l'arbalète (a cluster focused on special forces), and this new mission in partnership with Héli Union is part of it, since Fennec helicopters have been carrying snipers for over 30 years, and are intended for front-line protection of French domestic territory. These helicopters can also be deployed on OPEX missions.
The aim of this mission is to have the first aircraft operational for the surveillance of the 2023 Rugby World Cup to be held in France, with a view to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
ASI is proud to have been chosen alongside Héli-Union to take part in this mission, confirming its skills and expertise.

The ASI Group, headquartered in Reims near Paris, is a French group comprising two separate companies:
ASI Innovation, founded in 2010, is a design office specializing in the design, manufacture and certification of mission systems, cabin fittings and avionics installations.
Today, ASI Innovation is one of the few French groups to have obtained, from the highest European aeronautical authorities (EASA), the invaluable “DOA PART 21 J (Design Organisation Approval)” which enables it, with a constant concern for quality and seriousness, to certify to European as well as American authorities, all the tasks involved in the design, development and integration of complex systems on fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft.
In March 2014, ASI Innovation created ASI Aviation, which it owns 100%, with a view to taking over the assets of Reims Aviation Industries.
ASI Aviation specializes in the development, production and marketing of aircraft, including the famous F406 (nearly 80 aircraft worldwide, including several operated as mission, surveillance and maritime patrol aircraft), cabin outfitting, mission systems integration and installation, spare parts production and aircraft maintenance. ASI Aviation thus has the industrial capacity to integrate mission systems designed by ASI Innovation into aircraft.
